The People’s Defense Force (PDF) of Thaung Tha Township has confirmed that military council troops suffered casualties following a drone strike on their stationed camp and Ma Kyee Yoe checkpoint located on Bissanur Mountain near Thaung Tha city in Mandalay Region. The attack was carried out at approximately 8:30 AM on March 16, with revolutionary forces successfully deploying fixed-wing drones to deliver five precision bombs on the targets. While the military council suffered confirmed casualties in the attack, the exact number of casualties could not be immediately verified, according to the resistance forces.
The joint operation was conducted through collaboration between the People’s Defense Forces from Thaung Tha Township, Myingyan Township, and Yamethin Township. Following the successful strike, all revolutionary forces were able to withdraw safely from the area without sustaining any casualties. The Ma Kyee Yoe checkpoint has been a significant point of civilian oppression, where military council soldiers and police personnel regularly conduct unwarranted inspections and harassment of civilian vehicles passing through the area.
Following the attack, the Thaung Tha Township PDF issued a warning statement declaring that if military council soldiers and police personnel at the Ma Kyee Yoe checkpoint continue their unauthorized interference with civilian vehicles and harassment of local people, they will face more severe attacks in the future. The resistance forces clarified that these operations are necessary responses to the military council’s ongoing oppression of civilians and are conducted to ensure the freedom of movement and security of local residents. The strike represents a significant action in the continuing resistance against the military council’s control over civilian movement and their systematic harassment of the local population.
