The People’s Defense Force-Mandalay (PDF-Mandalay) and allied forces successfully captured military council positions in Mattaya and Patheingyi Townships of Mandalay Region, resulting in 15 military council soldiers killed and 16 captured, including one captain, according to Ko Aung Mon, spokesperson for PDF-Mandalay. The operations on July 20 led to the complete capture of military council camps in Thanyinkone village in Mattaya Township, and Thayetkaing and Myakantha villages in Patheingyi Township.
During the battles, resistance forces seized significant military assets including one drone jammer vehicle, drone-related equipment, and a large cache of weapons and ammunition. The military council forces suffered numerous casualties, with some retreating to the Computer University and Htitawmoe base. Despite the military council’s deployment of airstrikes, the PDF and allied forces effectively responded to the attacks and successfully repelled reinforcement columns. The spokesperson detailed that while 15 military council bodies were recovered, the actual casualty count could be higher, with many others sustaining injuries during the intense fighting.
The joint operation involved PDF-Mandalay collaborating with Mattaya Myomyan Force, Mattaya Township PDF, and SSTF forces. Among the captured military personnel was a captain-ranked officer of the military council. The successful operation represents a significant victory for local civilians and is expected to improve the security situation in the region. The military council forces’ retreat to the Computer University and Htitawmoe base demonstrates the effectiveness of the resistance forces’ coordinated assault, marking another strategic advancement in their ongoing campaign against the military council’s presence in the area.
