The military council forces have burned down a school and over 50 civilian houses in Pan Nyo village, Myaung Township, Sagaing Region, according to a representative from the Myaung Township People’s Defense and Security Organization (CDSOM). On March 12, in the evening, combined forces of the military council’s army and navy entered Pan Nyo village and systematically destroyed buildings by setting them on fire.
According to local sources, the military forces specifically targeted a school that was sheltering internally displaced persons (IDPs). The school compound consisted of three buildings, with two wooden structures completely destroyed and one brick building suffering damage to its roof and windows. Additionally, more than 50 civilian homes in the village were burned down and destroyed.
The military council forces left Pan Nyo village on the morning of March 14 and proceeded towards Myay Taw village in Yesagyo Township, where they continued their campaign of destruction by burning civilian homes. Since February, the military council has been conducting intensive operations in the river island areas between Myaung and Yesagyo townships, using both ground and naval forces, causing thousands of local residents to flee to safety. The ongoing military operations in the area have resulted in widespread displacement of civilians who have been forced to abandon their homes and seek refuge in safer locations.
