A monastery in Pauk Pin Kine village, Myaing Township, Magway Region, was burned down by the military council forces, according to an official from the M.V.P Revolution Force. The incident occurred on May 5th, when military council troops, who had established bases in Pauk Pin Kine, Thet Gyi Taw, and Lae Tan villages, deliberately targeted and destroyed the religious building. Local residents pointed out that the military council’s targeting of religious buildings constitutes a war crime and violates international law.
After burning down the monastery, the military council forces retreated towards the northeast, firing heavy weapons and machine guns indiscriminately. During their withdrawal, they engaged in combat with revolutionary forces. The revolutionary fighters successfully withdrew without any casualties, while casualties on the military council’s side could not be confirmed. The military operation represents another instance of the junta’s ongoing campaign of destruction against civilian infrastructure and religious sites in the region.
According to intelligence reports from revolutionary forces, the military council column initially departed from Pakokku city with approximately 200 troops. By the time they reached the Nyaung Gyi Pin area, their numbers had decreased to around 150 personnel. Currently, the military council forces are continuing their operations in the area with an estimated 120 troops, attempting to expand their presence in conflict zones using machine guns and heavy weapons, as detailed by the M.V.P Revolution Force official. The pattern of destruction and violence continues to characterize the military council’s operations against civilian targets and resistance forces in the region.
