According to local residents and a representative from the Ngazun News Group, the military council’s forces burned down more than 20 houses and arrested approximately 10 civilians in five villages in Ngazun Township, Mandalay Region, without any fighting taking place. The military operation involved around 100 troops who entered and raided the villages on the morning of August 12.
The military forces specifically targeted Kyauk Tine village and Na Bay Pin village, where they set fire to residential buildings and confiscated essential supplies including rice, cooking oil, seed grains, and other belongings from the villagers. The military’s unprovoked attacks have severely impacted the five villages: Kyauk Tine, Na Bay Pin, Thu Nap Sit, Bone Thar, and Shwe Twin Kone. As a result of these aggressive actions, nearly 3,000 residents from these villages have been forced to flee to safer locations.
The arrested civilians, approximately 10 people, were from Na Bay Pin and Kyauk Tine villages, though their identities have not yet been confirmed. The military council’s actions have caused significant disruption to the daily lives of local residents, who are now facing severe hardships regarding their basic needs and security. The systematic destruction of civilian properties and forceful displacement of residents continues to demonstrate the military’s ongoing campaign of violence against its own people, leaving communities devastated and struggling to survive amid increasing humanitarian challenges.
