
A representative from the Yesagyo Township Information Committee has confirmed that the military council forces beheaded and burned a village defense force member and destroyed 272 houses in Myaytaw village, Magway Region. On March 14 and 15, military council troops raided Myaytaw village, looting civilian properties. They captured a member of the village defense force, subjected him to torture before beheading and burning his body in a particularly brutal display of violence.
Due to the military offensive, residents from Myaysunhtaw village, Zayabni village, and Myaytaw village are in urgent need of food supplies and medical assistance. Currently, the military council is holding over 50 civilians, including elderly people and children, as human shields in Kanhtu village. They continue to launch artillery attacks on surrounding villages from this position. The military’s actions have created a severe humanitarian crisis in the area, with hundreds of displaced villagers lacking basic necessities.
The military council has been confirmed responsible for numerous civilian deaths, including U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60), U Thanmani (88), Daw Than Pyay (60), Daw Hla Ngwe (86), U Kyaw Htay (67), U Aung Myint (69), Ko Thant Zin (35), and Ko Aung Linn Naing (40) from Myaysunhtaw village. Additional victims include U Nyunt Way (70) and U San Win (50) from Malaka Chan village, U Chit Maung (65) from Thagaung Lay village, U Than Min Hlaing (42), U Ohn (91), and Daw San Way (70) from Thagaung village proper, along with two unidentified civilians. These killings demonstrate the military council’s continued campaign of violence against civilian populations in the region.
