The military council forces have arrested Ko Nay Soe (also known as Thuriya Soe), a Rakhine ethnic resident living in Pyin Oo Lwin city, Mandalay Region. The arrested individual, originally from Thandwe, was a businessman operating in Pyin Oo Lwin. According to the military council’s allegations, he has connections with the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).
The arrest took place at Yay Chan Oh village in Pyin Oo Lwin Township at around 3 PM on March 15. He is currently being detained at a police station in Pyin Oo Lwin, where legal proceedings have been initiated against him. The military council claims that Ko Nay Soe engaged in social media activities aimed at disrupting national stability and peace by spreading propaganda.
While Ko Nay Soe had previously been involved with some Rakhine State-based political parties, sources close to him indicate that he has been living as an ordinary businessman, conducting his affairs honestly. The military council has designated the National Unity Government, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, and their affiliated organizations as terrorist groups, and continues to arrest those allegedly connected to these organizations. These revolutionary organizations, in turn, have declared the military council itself to be a terrorist organization and are actively fighting for its removal from power.
