The military council forces have arrested Ko Nay Soe (also known as Thuriya Soe), a Rakhine ethnic resident living in Pyin Oo Lwin city, Mandalay Region. The arrested individual, originally from Thandwe, was a businessman operating in Pyin Oo Lwin. According to the military council’s allegations, he has connections with the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH).
The arrest took place around 3 PM on March 15 in Yay Chan Oh village, Pyin Oo Lwin Township. He is currently being detained at a police station in Pyin Oo Lwin and faces legal charges. The military council claims that Ko Nay Soe engaged in propaganda activities on social media that allegedly threatened national stability and peace. However, his friends and associates maintain that he is merely an honest businessman making a living through legitimate means.
While he had previously been involved with some Rakhine political parties, sources close to him indicate that he had ceased political activities. Since the military coup, the council has been designating the National Unity Government, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, and their alleged associates as terrorists, leading to numerous arrests and detentions. Meanwhile, revolutionary organizations have declared the military council itself a terrorist organization and continue their efforts to oppose the military regime. The ongoing situation reflects the broader conflict between the military council and various opposition forces fighting for democracy in Myanmar.
