The military council has arrested Ko Nay Soe (also known as Thuriya Soe), a Rakhine ethnic resident living in Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Region, alleging connections with revolutionary organizations including the National Unity Government (NUG) and the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH). The arrest took place around 3 PM on March 15 in Yay Chan Oh village, Pyin Oo Lwin Township, according to reports published in the military council’s propaganda newspaper, Myanmar Alin.
According to the military council’s accusations, Ko Nay Soe allegedly wrote and spread propaganda on social media with the intention of disrupting state stability and peace. He is currently being detained at a police station in Pyin Oo Lwin, where authorities have opened a case against him and are proceeding with legal action. Sources close to Ko Nay Soe, who is from the Thandwe region, describe him as an ordinary businessman who makes an honest living and had previously been involved with some Rakhine political parties.
The military council, which seized power through a coup, has designated the National Unity Government, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, and their affiliated organizations as terrorist groups, and continues to arbitrarily arrest those with alleged connections to these organizations. Meanwhile, the National Unity Government, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw, and other revolutionary organizations have in turn designated the military council led by the Myanmar military as a terrorist organization and are actively fighting for its complete removal from power.
