The Inle Region Human Rights Group has confirmed that homes of local civilians were destroyed in villages within Nyaungshwe and Pinlaung townships of Southern Shan State due to artillery and drone attacks carried out by the terrorist military council forces and their subordinate Pa-O National Army (PNA). These attacks have resulted in significant damage to civilian properties and infrastructure.
On May 2nd, in the afternoon, despite there being no active fighting in the area, the terrorist military and PNA forces deliberately targeted villages on the eastern side of the Bilu River in Pinlaung Township. They launched artillery attacks on Nam Tuk village and Kon Thar village (also known as Ma Sunt Khum). Nam Tuk village was hit with two artillery shells, while Kon Thar village endured a systematic bombardment with nine artillery shells over a period of more than two hours.
As a result of these attacks, one house in Kon Thar village was severely damaged, and community halls in Nam Tuk village also suffered significant damage. Fortunately, no civilian casualties were reported during these incidents. Similarly, in Nyaungshwe Township, Phayartaung village was also targeted by the terrorist military and PNA forces using drone strikes. On April 5th and 6th, drone bombs were deployed against Phayartaung village, resulting in the destruction of four houses when they were hit by the drone-delivered explosives, according to local residents.
