A representative from the Inle Region Human Rights Group has confirmed that two houses were destroyed when the terrorist military and their subordinate People’s Defense Force (PNA) attacked Yepyu village in Nyaungshwe Township, Southern Shan State, using drones and heavy weapons. The attack began at 6:00 AM on April 5 and continued until 5:30 PM, with the military council forces and PNA launching an unprovoked assault on Yepyu village in the southern part of the Inle region.
During the attack, approximately thirty rounds of heavy artillery were fired, and drone strikes were conducted. While the assault resulted in two houses being destroyed by fire, fortunately, no civilian casualties were reported. The representative from the Inle Region Human Rights Group emphasized that the military council and PNA forces deliberately targeted the village despite there being no ongoing conflict in the area. The attack was described as an intentional act of aggression against civilian targets.
This incident represents another example of the military council’s systematic targeting of civilian populations, threatening the lives and property of peaceful residents in the Inle region. The military council, along with their affiliated people’s militia groups, continues to commit systematic acts of violence in the region, and human rights organizations have stated that targeting civilian homes constitutes war crimes. The attack demonstrates the ongoing pattern of violence against civilians by the military council, which continues to oppress and terrorize local populations without any military justification or provocation.
