The military has conducted aerial bombardments near Ywa Kone Gyi village in Kyunhla Township, Sagaing Region, without any ongoing battles in the area, according to local activists. On September 2 at 8:00 PM, the military deployed fighter jets from Tataoo, dropping two 500-pound bombs, while Y-12 aircraft released 28 additional bombs. A representative from the Kyunhla-Kanbalu activist group confirmed that no civilians were injured in these airstrikes.
Military operations have been intensifying throughout the Kanbalu District, with drone attacks reported on August 31 targeting U Kyin Kyi village and Nhaut Kone area. The military also killed a displaced couple from Punnar Gyi village and burned down four shelters housing internally displaced persons (IDPs). Local residents have been forced to flee their homes and abandon their properties due to the military’s ongoing offensive operations in the region. The continuous military presence and attacks have created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with many villages becoming deserted as residents seek safety elsewhere.
Similarly, on September 4 at 10:45 AM, the military conducted an airstrike on a monastery in Pan Kwam village, Kyaukme Township, in northern Shan State, an area controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). The attack involved two 250-pound bombs dropped from military aircraft. While no casualties were reported from this particular airstrike, a local humanitarian worker from Kyaukme reported that most residents have already fled the area due to ongoing military operations. Only a few house guardians and those unable to evacuate remain in the region. The situation highlights the military’s continued use of airpower against civilian infrastructure and religious buildings, forcing local populations to abandon their homes and communities in search of safety.
