A military column was attacked in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region, resulting in the death of three soldiers and injuries to seven others, as confirmed by a responsible official from the Thayarwaddy District People’s Defense Force (PDF). The incident occurred around 5 AM on March 8, when Battalion 3802, Unit 6 Black Dragon GBK-PDF members ambushed a military column of approximately 50 personnel along the Uyinkyi-Yonechaung connection road as they were advancing through farmlands near Yonechaung village.
Following the attack, the military forcibly detained civilians from Yonechaung village to carry their dead and wounded soldiers. The military column had advanced from Alaykon camp through the farmlands of Yonechaung village when they were attacked, resulting in three immediate casualties and seven severe injuries. In response to their losses, the military seized local villagers to use as human shields and to transport their casualties. The exact number of civilians taken by the military remains under investigation, according to PDF sources.
Due to the military’s continued use of civilians as human shields, local residents have been warned to avoid areas where military columns are operating. Battalion 3802, Unit 6 Black Dragon GBK-PDF has announced that they will continue monitoring military movements and respond with force when necessary. They have also stated their commitment to continuing their resistance against the military’s human rights violations and violence against civilians. The PDF has emphasized that their operations will maintain strong opposition to the military’s oppressive actions while ensuring the protection of civilian lives.
