
Fighting broke out between military council forces and People’s Defense Forces near Pyitawmyaing village in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region on June 1st and 2nd, resulting in the deaths of 6 military personnel including Pyu Saw Htee militia members. The incident began when approximately 80 military council troops from Zeekon Township’s Bawbin village advanced towards Pyitawmyaing village in Gyobingauk Township.
On June 1st, the military column initially avoided areas with landmines but later moved onto the Bawkansay embankment where they encountered a mine attack between Bawbin and Pyitawmyaing villages. The following morning on June 2nd, military forces entered Pyitawmyaing village and forcibly took two villagers as porters. During the ensuing clashes, the combined resistance forces of Battalion 3701 Unit 2 – BTZM GBK PDF, Bago Yoma-based Battalion 3801 Unit 1 – YOMA GBK PDF, and Battalion 3802 Unit 1 Dragon Brothers launched coordinated attacks against the military column.
The fighting resulted in 6 casualties among military council forces and Pyu Saw Htee militia members, with one additional person seriously wounded. The People’s Defense Force members suffered no casualties during the operation. The two villagers who were forced to serve as porters managed to escape during the fighting. After the clashes, the military column retreated to Bawbin village in Zeekon Township, which has been serving as a base for both military forces and Pyu Saw Htee militia. The resistance forces successfully completed their mission and were able to withdraw safely from the area after the engagement.
