
A military convoy’s advance guard was attacked with mines in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the death of two military personnel including a captain, according to a spokesperson from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred around 5:45 AM on March 12, when PDF forces launched a mine attack on the advance guard of a military convoy traveling from Tanintharyi town toward Theinkun village near Kammalein village.
Following the initial attack, a 30-minute firefight erupted between the two sides, resulting in the death of a military captain and a lance corporal, with numerous other military personnel reported to have sustained injuries. The People’s Defense Force members who carried out the attack were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties. The operation was confirmed to have been conducted by members of the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force (PDF).
This attack represents one of the ongoing operations by People’s Defense Forces to control military movements in the Tanintharyi region, aimed at protecting the security and rights of local civilians.
