A military convoy’s advance guard was attacked in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the death of two military personnel including a captain, according to a spokesperson from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force. The incident occurred around 5:45 AM on March 12, when PDF forces launched a mine attack against the advance guard of a military convoy that was traveling from Tanintharyi town toward Theinkun village. The ambush took place near Kammalein village, where resistance fighters had positioned themselves to intercept the military unit.
Following the initial mine attack, an exchange of fire lasted approximately 30 minutes between the two sides. During the clash, a military captain and a lance corporal were killed, while several other military personnel sustained injuries. The operation was carried out by members of the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), who successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The resistance fighters had carefully planned and executed the attack, demonstrating their growing tactical capabilities in the region.
Such attacks have become increasingly common in the Tanintharyi Region as People’s Defense Forces continue their determined resistance against the military forces that have been oppressing local civilians. Local residents have been actively supporting the resistance movement by providing crucial intelligence about military movements and offering logistical support including food and supplies to the resistance fighters. The successful operation highlights the growing coordination between civilian resistance networks and armed resistance groups in their struggle against military oppression in the region.
