
A spokesperson from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that an attack on a military convoy’s advanced guard resulted in the death of two military personnel, including a captain, in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region. The incident occurred around 5:45 AM on March 12, when People’s Defense Force members launched a mine attack against the forward security element of a military convoy near Kammalein village as it was traveling from Tanintharyi town toward Theinkun village.
Following the initial mine attack, an exchange of fire between the two sides lasted approximately 30 minutes. During this engagement, a military captain and a lance corporal were killed, while several other military personnel sustained injuries, according to confirmation from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force. The resistance fighters from the Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force (PDF) who carried out the attack were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties.
These operations are part of the ongoing resistance activities by People’s Defense Forces within the Tanintharyi Region, aimed at dismantling the military dictatorship and protecting the security and rights of local civilians. The People’s Defense Forces in the Tanintharyi area continue to defend local populations against military violence while maintaining their resistance against the military regime.
