A representative from the Salin Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that numerous homes were destroyed after military forces conducted a three-day burning operation in Pyaung Kyin South and North villages in Magway Region’s Salin Township. The military columns systematically entered these villages from February 17 to 19 and deliberately set fire to civilian homes. As a result of this destruction, local residents have been forced to flee their homes to safer locations and are currently taking shelter in displacement camps, facing significant challenges in meeting their basic needs for food and shelter.
While the Salin Township People’s Defense Force officials are attempting to provide food supplies to the displaced civilians, there remains a substantial shortage of necessary resources. Additionally, in Sagaing Region’s Pale Township, a woman was injured when the military conducted an aerial bombing attack on Taw Tha village using armed helicopters. The attack occurred around midnight on February 26, resulting in the woman suffering shrapnel wounds to her thigh, while several houses in the village were also damaged or destroyed in the bombardment.
According to local residents, the military has been deliberately targeting civilian areas in these attacks. The ongoing destruction of civilian homes through arson and aerial bombardment has resulted in significant loss of life and property, forcing residents to continue fleeing their homes and seeking refuge elsewhere. Local authorities have reported that these military actions have created an ongoing humanitarian crisis in the affected areas, with displaced civilians struggling to secure basic necessities and safe shelter.
