
Local residents report that the military has set fire to houses in U Taw Myanmar Su village, Minle Township, Bago Region, after confiscating all civilian property. On the evening of May 5, military forces entered the village with military vehicles and systematically seized civilian belongings before beginning to burn down houses during the night hours. According to local sources, the military’s actions have caused widespread destruction and forced residents to flee for safety.
The military began their arson attacks starting with U Htay Hlaing’s house in the village and continued burning houses in the western part of the village. Due to these attacks, villagers have been forced to evacuate to safer locations fearing for their lives. Before setting the houses ablaze, military troops searched through and confiscated household items, loading them onto military vehicles. A local resident confirmed that the military thoroughly looted properties before commencing the destruction of homes.
Currently, the military column has established a position at U Taw Kanyin Pin village and is reportedly reinforcing their presence with additional military vehicles. According to local residents, the military initially targeted houses near the school building before gradually expanding their destruction throughout the entire village. These violent actions by the military have resulted in the loss of homes and property for local civilians, forcing them to abandon their residences and seek refuge elsewhere. The systematic nature of the military’s operations, beginning with looting and followed by deliberate destruction of civilian property, has created a humanitarian crisis in the area as residents struggle to find safe shelter away from their burning homes.
