On March 18, 2024, at approximately 11:15 AM, military troops entered the village, forcibly seized residents’ belongings, and systematically set fire to their homes. The military’s destructive actions have caused significant damage to civilian property and infrastructure in the village.
The military forces had initially entered Bisapkone village on March 17, using trucks to transport looted civilian property to Mingya Pyusawthi village. Following the systematic looting, they began burning residential buildings throughout the village. Local sources report that Bisapkone village, located in the river island area, has been subjected to continuous military attacks, resulting in substantial losses of lives and property for the villagers. The military’s actions have left many residents displaced and their livelihoods destroyed.
Additionally, reports indicate that a military vessel traveling upstream from Pakokku arrived at Pauktaw port this morning. The military has been conducting offensive operations along the Ayeyarwady River, targeting villages with attacks, looting civilian property, and burning homes. Local residents have been forced to abandon their properties and flee to safety, seeking refuge in secure locations away from the military’s destructive campaign. The ongoing military operations have created a humanitarian crisis in the region, with civilians bearing the brunt of the violence and destruction inflicted by the armed forces.
