The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) has confirmed that an attack on a military council base and reinforcement column in Loikaw Township, Karenni State, resulted in over twenty military council casualties and the seizure of multiple weapons. The offensive began around 5 AM on June 3rd, when Karenni revolutionary forces launched an attack on a military council stronghold established within the compound of Thyekon Village monastery in Loikaw Township. During the operation, the revolutionary forces also successfully intercepted and engaged a military reinforcement column arriving from Sisaing Township.
The battle took place in Thyekon village, which is located within Loikaw Township. According to KNDF revolutionary sources, military council troops typically retreat from Loikaw city, while reinforcements arrived from Southern Shan State and Sisaing areas, accompanied by the Pa-O National Organization (PNO). The engagement resulted in more than twenty military council casualties and the capture of significant military equipment, including five MA-1 rifles, one AK-47, one MA-4, one RPG launcher, and various other weapons and ammunition. This successful operation has been documented as a significant victory for the revolutionary forces, further weakening the military council’s control in the Karenni region.
The operation was carried out through a coordinated effort between KNDF Strategic Command-2, its subordinate battalions, and allied revolutionary forces. During the battle, three revolutionary fighters sustained injuries, as reported in an official statement from KNDF Strategic Command-2. This engagement represents a substantial tactical success for the revolutionary forces in their ongoing resistance against the military council’s presence in Karenni State, demonstrating their growing capability to conduct complex military operations and their ability to effectively challenge the military council’s control over the region.
