A military base in Pakokku, Magway Region, was attacked with heavy weapons by revolutionary forces, according to reports. The Burma Revolution Rangers led an offensive against Military Base 101 around 1 PM on August 2, using 60mm weapons that resulted in two shells hitting and exploding within the base compound. The attack caused casualties among military personnel, prompting a response with two military helicopters conducting aerial strikes, as confirmed by the Information Officer of the Burma Revolution Rangers.
During the attack, ground forces from the military also advanced, leading to an hour-long engagement with revolutionary forces. One resistance fighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the rest of the team successfully managed to withdraw from the area. While the exact number of military casualties could not be confirmed, local sources reported seeing injured personnel being transported on motorcycle trailers. The revolutionary forces faced challenges during the operation, particularly with the military’s deployment of aerial assets, highlighting their need for anti-aircraft capabilities.
Following the battle, military council troops raided Letpakan village near Base 101, arresting more than 30 civilians including men, women, youth, middle-aged, and elderly residents. The detained villagers were taken to Military Base 101, where they were reportedly subjected to interrogation and physical abuse. This coordinated attack was carried out through collaboration between the Burma Revolution Rangers, Pakokku People’s Defense Force, and the Ayeyarwaddy Dragon People’s Defense Force. The operation highlighted both the growing capabilities of resistance forces and the military’s continued pattern of targeting civilians in retaliation for resistance activities.
