In Bago Region, the terrorist military forces launched unprovoked artillery attacks on Yat Thit village near Pauk Khaung town, resulting in the destruction of four houses. According to local residents, on March 4 around 10 PM, Infantry Battalion 53 based in Pauk Khaung fired approximately nine artillery shells, with two shells landing and exploding within Yat Thit village. While there were no civilian casualties from the artillery strikes, several homes were damaged, and residents have been forced to evacuate due to unexploded ordnance remaining in the area, causing significant concern among the local population.
A local resident reported that the artillery shells hit some house compounds and roofs. Fortunately, residents were sleeping in the front rooms of their houses when the shells landed and exploded in the back yard areas, preventing any injuries or casualties. However, the presence of unexploded ordnance has created a dangerous situation, forcing residents to abandon their homes out of fear that the remaining shells could detonate at any time. The arbitrary nature of the military’s artillery attacks on civilian areas has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty in the community.
Additionally, in Minhla Township of Bago Region, military forces, police, and Pyu Saw Htee members arrived in vehicles and motorcycles at villages east of Sit Kwin on the afternoon of March 4. During their raid, they forcibly seized six motorcycles and two mobile phones belonging to civilians from Phar Lay Kwin village. Local sources confirmed that a major from the military later transferred the stolen motorcycles from the police outpost to the military base. These acts of looting and theft by the terrorist military forces have created additional hardship and anxiety for local residents, who continue to face ongoing persecution and property violations at the hands of the military council forces.
