
The military has conducted an operation in Ohyin village, Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region, resulting in the arrest of 13 young people, according to family members of those detained who spoke to Yangon Modern News Agency. On the morning of May 2, military forces entered Ohyin village through Phalankan village, conducted arrests of local youth, and subsequently departed toward Tatar village. The operation involved approximately 50 military personnel who entered the village and carried out the arrests without providing any explanation for their actions.
Family members of those arrested have lost contact with their loved ones and are increasingly concerned about their safety and whereabouts. Some of those detained are reportedly under the age of 18. The military’s actions in Nyaung-U Township have become increasingly aggressive, with forces frequently splitting into multiple columns to conduct raids and arrests in various villages throughout the area. Local residents report that these arbitrary arrests have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, causing some villagers to flee their homes for safety.
The military’s continued operations in the area have significantly disrupted civilian life, with families expressing grave concern for the safe return of their detained relatives. The pattern of arrests without warrant or explanation has become more frequent in recent times, according to local residents. The families of those arrested remain in a state of anxiety, having received no information about the charges against their family members or their current location.
