The approximately 40-year-old administrator had been serving in his position for an extended period under the military council’s appointment and was known for collecting illegal fees and oppressing local residents.
The administrator had been collecting military service fees from local residents at a rate of 15,000 kyats per household monthly and was involved in the misappropriation and illegal sale of local residents’ lands. Recently, he had been detained by the military council for two days. Local sources suggest that these circumstances may have led to significant mental stress, ultimately leading to his decision to end his life. The administrator’s actions during his tenure had created significant hardship for the local population, as he actively enforced the military council’s oppressive policies.
Meanwhile, in Paungde Township, Bago Region, a military engagement was reported between Nyaungpinpin village and Matukin village. The 3601 Battalion conducted a mine attack on a military column that was transporting dead bodies and wounded soldiers from the military council forces. The incident occurred when the military council troops were retreating to Kyaukgyitaung Gate checkpoint through Nyaungpinpin village, following casualties sustained in a battle on June 3. During the subsequent clearing operation, resistance forces recovered one ammunition box and twenty 5.56 rounds from the military council troops. While there were reported casualties among the military council forces in this attack, the exact numbers could not be immediately verified.
