The military council conducted aerial bombardments on two villages in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region, as confirmed by the Thaung Tha Township Public Movement Committee. The attacks, which occurred on March 15, targeted Ma Gyi Cho village and Si Sone Kone village with nine bombs. While the bombardment caused damage to several houses in the villages, no civilian casualties were reported, though four cattle were killed. Additionally, one of the bombs dropped during the attack remains unexploded in the area, according to local residents.
Simultaneously, in Yetarshay Township of Bago Region, the military council forces committed acts of arson in Ywar Thit village. On March 13, military troops stationed in the village deliberately set fire to thirty-nine houses, three cattle sheds, and two rice storage facilities. While the exact extent of the damage remains difficult to assess due to ongoing military occupation of the area, local sources confirmed that no civilians were injured during the incident. The military’s presence in the village has made it challenging for residents to conduct a thorough assessment of the destruction.
In related events, fighting broke out in Yetarshay Township involving troops from Naypyidaw’s 801 Battalion and the Yetarshay PDF forces led by Major Mut Sate, resulting in reported casualties among military council forces. These brutal attacks by the military council have led to significant destruction of civilian property and forced many local residents to flee their homes, creating an ongoing displacement crisis in the region. The systematic targeting of civilian infrastructure and properties continues to demonstrate the military’s use of violence against its own people, causing severe humanitarian consequences for the affected communities.
