Military airstrikes on villages in Myingyan and Thaung Tha townships of Mandalay Region have resulted in civilian casualties and destruction of homes. According to a representative from Voice of Mandalay, on March 10 at approximately 3:00 PM, the military conducted airstrikes near Myaung Thit village in eastern Myingyan township using a fighter jet that dropped one 100-pound bomb, one 500-pound bomb, and one 250-pound bomb. While the exact number of civilian casualties from these airstrikes could not be immediately confirmed, local residents were forced to flee to safer locations.
Later that same day, at around 4:25 PM, another military fighter jet conducted additional strikes near Thaphan Kine village in Myingyan township, where internally displaced persons had taken shelter. The attack involved two 100-pound bombs, resulting in one civilian suffering non-life-threatening injuries. The military’s aerial assault campaign has created an atmosphere of terror among local residents, who have been forced to seek refuge in safer areas away from their homes.
Similarly, in Thaung Tha township of Mandalay Region, the military conducted airstrikes on Htan Pin village using two helicopters, causing significant damage to civilian homes, according to a representative from the Thaung Tha Township Public Movement Committee. On March 11 at approximately 1:45 AM, two military helicopters arriving from Meiktila targeted areas around Zayat Gyi village groups 1, 2, 3, and 5, as well as the northwestern forest area near Htan Pin Kan village, dropping eight bombs. While these strikes resulted in damage to residential buildings, fortunately no civilian casualties were reported in this particular incident. The Thaung Tha Township Public Movement Committee has urged local residents to construct proper bomb shelters and take immediate cover in these shelters upon hearing aircraft or helicopter sounds, as the military continues to conduct frequent airstrikes in the region.
