In Kaungtee Village, Pekon Township of Southern Shan State, artillery shelling by the military forces injured seven civilians including three children under the age of 8, according to a spokesperson from PDF Strategic Command-1 of Southern Shan Region. The incident occurred around 1 PM on April 21, when Military Operations Command-7 based in Pekon town fired more than ten artillery shells into Kaungtee Village without any ongoing battles in the area.
Among the injured, a 40-year-old woman sustained severe injuries and was provided medical treatment by the Pekon Health Care Rescue team before being transferred to a hospital. The military council forces have been deliberately targeting civilian residential areas with airstrikes and heavy weapons, prompting warnings for civilians to remain vigilant and maintain military awareness in their daily activities.
Simultaneously, in Myingon Village of Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, the military conducted an airstrike on a fuel station, dropping two bombs. The attack occurred around 11 PM on April 21, resulting in the destruction of two residential buildings and several shops by fire. The bombs landed on the western and northern sides of the fuel station, and people who had to jump from buildings to escape the fires suffered severe leg injuries, according to local residents.
The targeted fuel station was a combined facility selling both fuel and general merchandise, serving as a crucial supply point for nearby villages and travelers. These deliberate attacks by the military on civilian areas have resulted in significant loss of life and property, causing widespread fear and concern among local residents. The military’s continued targeting of civilian infrastructure and residential areas demonstrates a pattern of deliberate attacks on non-military targets, severely impacting the safety and livelihoods of local communities.
