
According to local People’s Defense Force sources, a military airstrike on Kantaw village in Myinmu Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in the deaths of 5 civilians, including a 3-year-old child, while 15 others were injured. On April 19, 2024, at 11:55 AM, a military fighter jet from Tataoo launched a deliberate attack on the northern part of Kantaw village, dropping four 250-pound bombs and two missiles.
The airstrike killed three civilian men, a 17-year-old girl, and a 3-year-old child instantly, while severely wounding other villagers. The attack occurred during lunchtime when villagers were in their homes, targeting an area with no military objectives, according to local residents. The deliberate nature of the attack on civilian areas has been emphasized by local sources.
Earlier that day, at 9:40 AM, military forces and Pyu Saw Htee members from Myinmu town launched a surprise attack on a security checkpoint between Allakappa village and Meino village, using three private cars and two pickup trucks. The attack resulted in the death of one revolutionary fighter and the loss of an M16 rifle. Additionally, at 1:11 AM on April 19, military forces with approximately 90 troops conducted an offensive operation at the checkpoint between Warpyi village and Peku village, as reported by local sources.
