According to reports from the People’s Defense Force in Sintguu Township, military airstrikes on Latpanhlwa and Htonegyi villages in Mandalay Region’s Sintguu Township resulted in one civilian death and four injuries. The attacks occurred on the evening of May 3rd, causing significant damage to residential buildings. The series of airstrikes began at 8:20 PM, with the first strike targeting farmland near the Mula Aungmyay Monastery in the Pyisoe Aung ward of Latpanhlwa village.
Subsequent attacks were carried out at 10:48 PM, 10:54 PM, and 10:55 PM near the Latpanhlwa bridge and Peace ward, resulting in injuries to one woman and the destruction of two houses by fire. The military forces then launched another airstrike on Htonegyi village at 10:58 PM, killing a 30-year-old man and injuring three other civilians. Five houses were burned down in this attack. Local residents have indicated that these airstrikes appeared to be deliberately targeting civilian areas.
The military airstrikes have caused widespread fear among local residents, with many fleeing to safer locations. Local aid groups are currently documenting the extent of the damage and providing medical assistance to the injured. Human rights organizations have declared these deliberate attacks on civilians as war crimes. The detailed assessment of damages is ongoing, and medical treatment is being provided to those who were injured in the attacks. These military actions represent a continuation of the junta’s campaign of violence against its own citizens, causing displacement and destruction in civilian areas.
