
On March 18, the Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) led a mass public protest against the military dictatorship in Longlone Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region. The demonstration saw active participation from local residents, youth, and civil society organizations who peacefully expressed their opposition to the military regime while carrying banners and posters with anti-dictatorship messages.
The protesters voiced several demands, including the immediate end to the military dictatorship, the release of all political prisoners, and protection for civilians who are being oppressed under the military regime. They also called for an end to the military council’s unjust oppression, violence, and crimes being committed against pro-democracy supporters. The demonstration highlighted the ongoing resistance against the military’s forceful control and its systematic violation of human rights.
A representative from the Democracy Movement Strike Committee (DDMSC) stated that such public demonstrations would continue until the complete elimination of the military dictatorship. They emphasized their commitment to fighting for democracy and pledged to do everything possible to protect the lives, properties, and well-being of the people. Local residents of Longlone have also expressed their determination to continue participating in such mass movements in unity, demonstrating their strong opposition to the military regime’s oppressive rule and their unwavering support for the restoration of democracy in Myanmar.
