
On the morning of July 19, 2023, the Dawei District Democracy Movement Strike Committee led a Martyrs’ Day commemoration ceremony and anti-military dictatorship public strike in Longlone Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region. The event was held under the theme ‘Continuing the Martyrs’ Vision Through People’s Power,’ bringing together local residents to honor the fallen leaders and protest against military rule.
The ceremony included several significant elements, including paying respects to the Student Union Fighting Peacock Flag, honoring General Aung San and other martyred leaders, laying wreaths in remembrance, and delivering commemorative speeches. Participants paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the national leaders who were assassinated in their pursuit of independence and democracy for Myanmar. The ceremony emphasized the historical importance of the martyrs’ contributions to Myanmar’s struggle for independence and their enduring legacy in the country’s ongoing fight for democracy.
