The Burma Revolution Rangers successfully seized an MA1 rifle during an operation targeting a military checkpoint in western Pakokku, Magway Region, as confirmed by Demo, the information officer of the resistance group. The operation took place around 10:30 AM on April 6, targeting a checkpoint near Military Division 101 and Infantry Battalions 252 and 259, where the military had been forcefully collecting illegal tolls from civilians. The resistance forces launched the attack after receiving intelligence about the checkpoint’s activities.
When the resistance forces reached the checkpoint, they found it temporarily unmanned and discovered an MA1 rifle in a bunker. They were able to retrieve the weapon and withdraw safely before any response from nearby military camps. According to Demo, intelligence suggested that approximately 15 to 20 military personnel were stationed in the area, with limited weapons but equipped with drones. The resistance forces had been monitoring the location, noting that it was separated from the main military compound only by a fence.
The resistance groups in Pakokku Township are currently facing significant challenges due to ongoing military operations in the area. Despite possessing artillery pieces, they are unable to effectively counter military movements due to a shortage of ammunition. The situation is further complicated by disrupted internet and telecommunications services in the region, which hampers coordination and information sharing among resistance forces. The Burma Revolution Rangers also mentioned their ongoing drone campaign, which has faced funding challenges, with only 300 of the planned 3,000 certificates sold so far. Recent earthquakes in the region have also affected their operational capabilities and fundraising efforts among the local population.
