A military column that reached Phru So town in Karenni State is heading towards Bawlakhe, prompting the indefinite closure of the Loikaw-Demoso-Phru So-Bawlakhe main road, according to an official from the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) Central News and Information Department. Since August 2025, military columns have been launching offensives along the main road from Demoso to Phru So town, with intense fighting continuing until September 23. During the fighting, some military convoys managed to enter Phru So town.
Military columns in Phru So township, after replenishing food, ammunition, and troops, began military operations heading towards the Bawlakhe main road starting September 20. These movements have led to clashes with Karenni revolutionary forces. Fighting between Demoso and Phru So occurs almost daily, resulting in some military council casualties and the destruction of at least two vehicles from their convoy. The military council forces reached Phru So town three to four days ago and are now preparing for military operations toward Bawlakhe, leading to ongoing clashes with revolutionary forces.
As a result, starting September 23, the Loikaw-Demoso-Phru So-Bawlakhe main road and the Phru So-Htarlay-Nan Phe main road, including all connecting roads, will be closed indefinitely, with civilians instructed not to use these routes. Additionally, revolutionary forces intercepted and attacked a military column moving from Bawlakhe towards Pharsuang, resulting in 25 military casualties. The attack was jointly carried out by KNDF and Naypyidaw PDF, with further fighting expected as military columns continue their operations in the area. The revolutionary forces suffered two injuries during the engagement, while the military column, consisting of approximately 100 troops, was forced to retreat back to Bawlakhe due to heavy casualties.
