
Myint Lwin Oo, who had been illegally seizing public gardens and lands in collaboration with the military and village administration in Kawthaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, was shot dead at his residence. According to Colonel Thaman Kyar from the Kawthaung Township Urban Guerrilla Force, the incident occurred at 7 PM on April 12th when the local PDF’s Flying Dragon Force and Urban Guerrilla Force entered and opened fire at Myint Lwin Oo’s house in Shwe Pyay Soe village tract, Thaung Phyu Phyu village.
Myint Lwin Oo was identified as a key collaborator with the military council who had been forcibly seizing public orchards and lands while working with the military and military-appointed administrators. Despite multiple warnings, he continued his land-grabbing activities, which led to the operation against him. He was described as a crucial figure in maintaining the military council’s operations in the area. During the raid, forces seized various items from his residence, including documents related to illegally acquired land plots, four bankbooks, two mobile phones, 4,000 Thai Baht, 2 million Myanmar Kyat, and one communication radio.
Local residents from Thaung Phyu Phyu village in the Shwe Pyay Soe village tract confirmed that Myint Lwin Oo was actively working for the military, causing various forms of hardship for the local population through his activities. The operation was carried out after multiple warnings were ignored, and he continued his involvement in land seizures and other activities supporting the military council’s operations in the area. While local sources have confirmed his role in supporting military operations, the Yangon Modern News Agency has not been able to independently verify the situation on the ground.
