A Lance Corporal from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 269 in Tedim, Chin State, has defected to PDF Zoland on March 19, bringing weapons and ammunition with him. Lance Corporal Maung Min Soe brought one MA-series rifle, six spare magazines, one hand grenade, ammunition, and military equipment when he defected. PDF Zoland warmly welcomed the defecting Lance Corporal, provided him with security protection, and awarded him with honorary compensation.
The defection of soldiers from the military council’s forces demonstrates the declining morale and challenges faced within their ranks. Frequent clashes between the military council forces and People’s Defense Forces have been occurring in Tedim Township, causing local civilians to flee as internally displaced persons. PDF Zoland has announced that they will continue to welcome and provide full security guarantees to any military personnel who voluntarily choose to defect from the military council’s forces.
