At the ‘Public Mourning and Consolation Fundraising Event for Earthquake Victims – Sana Thingyan Korea 2025’ held at Buphyeong Square in Incheon, South Korea, more than 30 million won was raised, including proceeds from various charitable sales. The collected funds will be sent to support earthquake victims in Myanmar. The event demonstrated the solidarity between the Korean people and those affected by the earthquake in Myanmar.
Union Minister U Aung Myo Myint from the Ministry of Human Rights of the National Unity Government attended the event and delivered a message of condolence for the earthquake victims. He also provided words of encouragement and discussed support initiatives for those affected. The event included an interfaith prayer session where religious leaders including Sayadaw U Wisuta (Day Gu Sayadaw), Reverend Ban Hta Kye O, and U Kyaw Kyaw Lwin offered prayers according to their respective faiths. This interfaith participation highlighted the unified response to the natural disaster across different religious communities.
The funds raised through such compassionate initiatives will provide crucial support for those affected by the earthquake, helping them rebuild their lives and communities. The solidarity shown by the South Korean people serves as both material and moral support for the Myanmar people, demonstrating the strength of international brotherhood and assistance during times of crisis. This aid will help alleviate some of the hardships faced by earthquake victims and contribute to their recovery efforts, while also strengthening the bonds between the people of both nations.
