The Karen National Union (KNU) Information and Public Relations Department of Myeik-Dawei District has announced the successful capture of Military Point 2566 on the Thai-Myanmar border in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei District. The operation, which concluded on June 10th in the afternoon, resulted in the seizure of the military council’s forward base at Point 2566, also known as Amoe Border Point. The offensive began on June 8th, with forces led by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) achieving victory after three days of intense fighting.
The captured Point 2566 border post was a strategic base operated by Infantry Battalion 25 under the command of Htee Hta Strategic Command. The outpost was established in late 1997 following the fall of the KNU’s Mae Tha Mi Hta (Htee Hta) and Mae Tha Mi Khee (Htee Khee) headquarters in the Myeik-Dawei District. The successful operation was carried out through a coordinated effort involving KNLA Brigade 4, Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) Battalion 7, Brigade Drone Special Force, Htee Moe Pwa region’s Forest Department, KNPF, Security Forces, Women’s Organization, and allied forces including TPLF and FFD Drone units.
Following the capture of the former KNU Brigade 4 headquarters at Htee Khee border post and Htee Hta Strategic Camp in April and May by KNLA and revolutionary allied forces, the seizure of the Bodhi Camp near Bodhi Village along the border line in Thailand’s Kanchanaburi Province represents another significant victory. This success demonstrates the growing military capabilities and unity of revolutionary forces in the region, while indicating the military council’s weakening control along the border areas. The KNU Myeik-Dawei District Information and Public Relations Department has expressed special gratitude to all military officers, allied forces, community leaders, local civilians, and supporters who contributed tirelessly to the successful capture of the Bodhi Camp.
