
According to KNLA sources, their joint forces attacked military troops advancing into Thaung Gyi District, Bago Region, resulting in 10 military casualties and 7 captures. On May 19, when military forces entered KNU Brigade 3 territory in Thaung Gyi District, KNLA joint forces engaged them in combat. During the battle, the military column retreated and dispersed, with weapons and ammunition being seized by the resistance forces.
Additionally, on the evening of May 28, KNLA joint forces captured the Kanele military camp in Myawaddy Township along the Thai-Myanmar border, seizing two 120mm heavy weapons and substantial amounts of ammunition. The camp had over 100 military personnel, of whom more than 50 fled to the Thai side. The remaining forces were either captured as prisoners of war, killed in the fighting, or escaped into nearby forests and plantations.
According to KNU’s official statement, the Kanele military camp, which had been occupied by the military in KNU Brigade 6 territory, was captured on May 28 at 6 PM through a joint operation by KNU Brigade 6-led Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO), and People’s Defense Force (PDF). Furthermore, on the morning of May 29, KNLA-led revolutionary forces also successfully completed the clearance operation and captured the Shwe Aye Myaing military camp in Myawaddy Township, Karen State.
