The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied forces have successfully eliminated an entire military council column of over 70 troops that was heading to reinforce the Thaybawboe military camp near the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State. According to KNLA military sources, more than 30 soldiers were captured alive while many others were killed in the operation. The military column was intercepted while attempting to reach Thaybawboe camp as reinforcements.
The operation began on May 27 when the KNLA allied forces intercepted the military council column of 72 troops near the DKBA headquarters at Sukali. The resistance forces launched a coordinated attack, resulting in the complete neutralization of the entire column. Military sources confirmed that over 30 soldiers were captured alive, with the remaining troops killed in action. The resistance forces also seized weapons and ammunition from the defeated military column. The operation was carefully executed while maintaining vigilance against potential airstrikes from the military council.
KNLA allied forces are continuing their offensive operations against military council positions, including the siege of Thaybawboe camp and its guard post at the entrance of Thaybawboe village. In the broader Waw Lay area along the Thai-Myanmar border, resistance forces are conducting continuous military operations against multiple military council camps. The allied forces are also engaged in offensive operations against military positions at Kanele, Mawkhi, and Htee Thae Blay camps. The resistance forces remain cautious of potential air attacks while maintaining their offensive momentum in the region. These operations represent ongoing efforts by ethnic armed organizations and resistance forces to challenge the military council’s control in Karen State and along the Thai-Myanmar border area.
