
The Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO) headquarters has officially announced that they engaged with advancing military council forces in the Myeik-Dawei district of Tanintharyi Region, resulting in the destruction of one military vehicle and numerous casualties on the military council’s side. The clash occurred in territory under the control of KNDO Battalion 7, Company 3, within Myeik Township. The KNDO forces intercepted and attacked the military column near La Tha village as it attempted to advance into the area.
During the engagement, one military vehicle was completely destroyed, and many soldiers from the military council forces suffered injuries. Following the battle, a 20-year-old soldier named Nyi Nyi Zaw from the military council forces, who was affected by the fighting, defected to the KNDO forces along with his weapons and ammunition. The KNDO has stated that after conducting necessary interrogations with the defected soldier Nyi Nyi Zaw, he will be transferred to relevant departments in accordance with international humanitarian principles.
Local revolutionary sources confirm that frequent clashes continue to occur between military council forces and revolutionary forces in the Myeik-Dawei district of Tanintharyi Region, with ongoing military tensions in the area. Notably, on August 18 and 19, revolutionary alliance forces intercepted and attacked a military council column and convoy advancing from Dawei city to Metta town. According to statements from revolutionary forces, this engagement resulted in the deaths of more than twenty military council soldiers and the complete destruction of eight military supply vehicles.
