
The Deputy Chairman of the Kachin Independence Organization/Army (KIO/KIA), Vice Senior General Gum Maw, met with leaders of the Yaw Army in Laiza for crucial discussions. The meeting, which took place in July, focused on current revolutionary cooperation, the construction of a future federal union, and the military and political situation in the Yaw region. These discussions represent a significant step in strengthening ties between resistance forces fighting against the military council.
According to a senior official from the Yaw Army, the discussions covered detailed aspects of cooperation during the revolution, preparations for building a future federal union, military structure development advice, and comprehensive analysis of the current military and political situation in the Yaw region. Both parties agreed to enhance their military and political cooperation. The meeting demonstrated the commitment of both organizations to working together more closely in their struggle for democracy and federal rights.
Additionally, a separate meeting was held in Laiza involving the National Unity Government’s (NUG) interim president Duwa Lashi La, KIO/KIA Deputy Chairman Vice Senior General Gum Maw, and leaders of the Chin Brothers (CB) organization. This meeting concentrated on establishing closer relations between the organizations, enhancing cooperation, and developing strategic revolutionary coordination. These discussions mark an important step in strengthening unity among revolutionary forces and demonstrate the growing coordination between various resistance organizations in their shared struggle for democracy and federal rights in Myanmar. The meetings reflect the ongoing efforts to build stronger alliances and more effective cooperation among the forces opposing the military council’s rule.
