Intense fighting continues between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA)-led revolutionary forces and military council troops in Banmaw Township, Kachin State. During the clashes, revolutionary forces successfully shot down seven surveillance drones belonging to the military council, as confirmed by KIA sources. These drones were being used to gather intelligence on the positions and movements of revolutionary forces, making their destruction a significant tactical victory for the resistance forces.
In Oaktwin Township, Bago Region, People’s Defense Forces launched an attack on a military council camp and column, resulting in the deaths of 15 military council soldiers, according to a spokesperson from the Oaktwin Township People’s Defense Force. During the engagement, resistance forces also managed to seize various weapons, ammunition, and military equipment from the military council troops. The successful operation demonstrates the growing capabilities of local resistance forces in their fight against the military council’s oppression.
Meanwhile, during military council leader Min Aung Hlaing’s visit to Russia, a Russian military cargo plane arrived in Naypyidaw carrying military equipment and supplies. Sources indicate that this is part of the ongoing military cooperation between the military council and Russia, with the council frequently purchasing weapons and military hardware from Russia. Revolutionary forces have consistently pointed out that these imported weapons and ammunition are being used by the military council to commit acts of violence and oppression against civilians. The continued supply of military equipment to the council has raised concerns among human rights organizations and the international community about Russia’s role in supporting the military regime’s campaign of violence against the Myanmar people.
