
The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied forces have successfully captured 34 soldiers from the Myanmar military’s 77th Division, which was fleeing from Katha city in Sagaing Region. According to KIA military sources, they have been pursuing and engaging the military reinforcement column throughout the territory. The fleeing military column had previously committed various acts of oppression against local civilians, and their retreat came as fighting intensified in the region. The KIA and allied forces have confirmed that the captured soldiers will be treated in accordance with international standards.
Meanwhile, the military council has officially notified overseas employment agencies that it will implement restrictions and strict screening processes for all foreign employment opportunities from Myanmar.
