The Karenni Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced successful operations against military council outposts in Bawlakhe and Hpruso areas, resulting in over 60 military council casualties and the seizure of more than 40 weapons. The offensive operations, which began on March 4th under the command of the JCS, systematically targeted strategic military council positions. Within one month of operations, resistance forces successfully captured several strategic outposts including Myit Kyin, Kyauk Chae Sate, Yay Kyaw, Yay Ni Pauk, and Wan Palan in the Bawlakhe township area.
The resistance forces also effectively contained and attacked the fire station and port areas in Hpruso. During these operations, over 60 military council troops were killed, several were captured alive, and more than 40 assorted weapons along with various ammunition were seized. Since January 2025, the military council has been attempting to regain control of the main road connecting Loikaw and Moebye cities, leading to fierce resistance from Karenni revolutionary forces. In these battles, several brave soldiers from the Karenni revolutionary joint forces sacrificed their lives defending their territory.
To effectively counter the military council’s offensive towards the Moebye region, the JCS was formed to coordinate operations between various revolutionary forces and people’s defense forces in Karenni State. The JCS has been directing both defensive and offensive operations since 2025. The organization is committed to liberating all of Karenni State from military council control and working towards establishing a federal democratic system. However, following the March 28 earthquake that caused significant damage to lives and property in Sagaing, Mandalay, Naypyidaw, and Southern Shan State, the JCS expressed their condolences to affected families. Despite ongoing military council attacks across Karenni State, the resistance forces are adjusting their operations to balance natural disaster response while maintaining defensive positions against military council aggression in their controlled areas.
