A protest commemorating July 7 and opposing the military coup was held today in Busan and Daegu cities of South Korea. The protest was organized by revolutionary activists, and a Daegu-based monk who is active in the Spring Revolution delivered a commemorative message for July 7. During the protest, participants expressed their opposition to the military dictatorship in Myanmar, declared their non-recognition of the military council, and showed support for the People’s Defense Forces and revolutionary groups fighting to completely eliminate the military dictatorship system.
Protesters carried Spring Revolution flags, National Unity Government flags, and anti-dictatorship banners while chanting slogans against the military dictatorship system loudly. They also called for increased international pressure to restore democracy in Myanmar and completely eliminate the military dictatorship system. The protest was attended by Myanmar citizens residing in South Korea, South Korean citizens, and pro-democracy activists from various countries. Participants demonstrated their solidarity with Myanmar’s struggle for democracy and their rejection of the military council that has been oppressing civilians since the coup.
During the protest, the Daegu monk stated that the democratic revolution would continue as long as the military dictatorship system persists in Myanmar. He emphasized that the entire population must continue fighting unitedly to completely eliminate the military dictatorship system, and that the international community needs to provide more support for the Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy. The protest was conducted peacefully, and participants pledged to continue their united support for Myanmar’s democratic struggle. The demonstration served as both a commemoration of July 7 and a clear message of opposition to the military regime that continues to commit violence against its own people and force civilians into military service.
