Intense fighting continues along the Kawkareik-Kyondoe road in Karen State, where military forces have detained and killed two civilians, according to local military sources. On July 25 at around 9 AM, military forces stationed at Gyaing Bridge in Kyondoe Township launched attacks with two missiles targeting Migalun, Taung Kamplaik, and Malakun areas. Around 10 AM, as the military continued launching missiles, revolutionary allied forces responded with their own missiles, shock-strike missiles, and heavy artillery.
Although the military council has announced the reopening of the Kawkareik-Kyondoe road section, ongoing battles have effectively kept transportation links severed. Construction department vehicles from Hpa-an city, intended for road and bridge repairs, have only managed to reach Gyaing Bridge and Yoma Ha village. Three military council bailey bridge construction vehicles have been unable to proceed to Kyondoe’s Five Mile village due to the fighting. A vehicle carrying bailey bridge components that had been stationed at Gyaing Bridge has also retreated back toward Hpa-an.
On July 24, military council forces and DKBA troops stationed in Kyondoe town jointly conducted operations toward Five Mile village, where they captured and killed two returning residents – Mann Kyaw Sharla, age 45, and Mann Aklaik, age 44. Additionally, indiscriminate small arms fire from military council forces and DKBA Colonel Bi’s group wounded 63-year-old U Tin Tin in the leg, who is now receiving treatment at Hpa-an Public Hospital.
