A representative from Battalion 804 – Naypyidaw PDF has confirmed that resistance forces have been conducting offensive operations against military columns in the border areas of Naypyidaw, Magway, and Bago regions for nearly a month, resulting in at least 75 military casualties as intense fighting continues. Beginning July 18, the military launched operations with three separate columns: one with 500 troops advancing from Naypyidaw toward the Yoma area, another with 100 troops from the Kopin-Thagara area of Bago Region, and a third column of 60 troops from Thaungdwingyi, Aunglan, and Sinpaungwe townships in Magway Region.
The military columns have suffered significant losses from landmines and other explosive devices planted by resistance forces, with fighting continuing to the present. While the military has sustained at least 75 casualties, resistance forces reported two fighters receiving non-life-threatening injuries and having to temporarily abandon some of their camps. The military deployed a total force of over 600 troops divided into three columns, causing local civilians to flee their homes and become internally displaced persons. The fighting has primarily occurred in Salin District across the border areas of Naypyidaw, Bago, and Magway regions, with military forces launching operations from villages including Chaung Tain, Chaung Ma Gyi, and Aung Chan Tha in the Naypyidaw area.
The military has incorporated Pyu Saw Htee militia and PNO people’s militia forces from within Naypyidaw into their operations, according to resistance sources. The offensive operations have been jointly conducted by Naypyidaw Military Command Battalion 804, Battalion 902, Salin District Battalion 1, and the Aunglan Township People’s Defense Force. Local resistance forces continue to mount defensive operations against these military columns while attempting to minimize civilian casualties in the conflict areas.
