A Chin Brotherhood Operation official has confirmed that they have captured military personnel and seized weapons and ammunition during offensive operations to complete the capture of the remaining Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 268 base in Falam, Chin State. Fighting broke out when military council forces launched an offensive with air support against revolutionary forces’ controlled positions at Church Hill and Hospital Hill around 5 AM on March 11, leading to counter-offensive operations by resistance forces aimed at completely capturing LIB 268 battalion base.
In 2024, the Chin Brotherhood and allied forces successfully conducted operations to capture Falam town, including taking control of two strategic hills near LIB 268 – Church Hill and Hospital Hill – which allowed them to maintain pressure on the battalion base. The military council reinforced their troops via aircraft twice – once in January with 20-30 soldiers, and again on March 10 with approximately 40 troops, before launching their counter-offensive at 5 AM on March 11. The military council conducted airstrikes using more than 20 aircraft, dropping 500-pound bombs twice per sortie during their offensive operations.
Despite the military council’s offensive operations and intense aerial bombardment, resistance forces have managed to inflict significant casualties on the military forces and have captured additional sentry posts within LIB 268 battalion base. The Chin Brotherhood Operation and allied forces are continuing their efforts to completely capture the LIB 268 battalion base, according to officials. The ongoing battle represents a significant push by resistance forces to eliminate one of the last remaining military council strongholds in the area, with resistance forces maintaining control of key strategic positions while expanding their territorial control despite facing heavy airstrikes and reinforced enemy troops.
