Intense fighting has erupted between the military council forces and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) allied forces in the Nophoe and Htee Mu Hta village areas of Myawaddy Township, Karen State. According to military sources, approximately 100 soldiers from Infantry Battalion 275, who had recently returned from Thailand through BGF Major Moe Soon’s group, advanced towards Nophoe and Htee Mu Hta villages. The KNLA allied forces have surrounded and engaged the military column, resulting in ongoing battles in the area.
The military council forces have been attempting to rescue their trapped column by launching heavy artillery strikes, which resulted in the death of one civilian and injuries to five others from Nophoe and Htee Mu Hta villages. In the afternoon, military council aircraft conducted bombing raids on the conflict areas. During the fighting, four to five resistance fighters were reported wounded, but no fatalities were recorded among the revolutionary forces. Local military sources confirmed that claims about the military council forces reaching Thanganyi Naung were false, and the resistance forces have maintained their positions without withdrawing from any area.
Simultaneously, fighting has also broken out near the Tawnaw waterfall area along the Asia Highway between Kawkareik and Myawaddy. The military council forces have been repeatedly forced to retreat, and are currently focusing on psychological warfare operations and drone attacks. The ongoing conflicts have caused significant concern among local residents, with some being forced to flee to safer areas. The military council’s use of airstrikes and heavy artillery in civilian areas has raised serious humanitarian concerns, while resistance forces continue to maintain defensive positions against the military’s offensive operations.
